AI EngineerOmaha
Brought to you and hosted by
AI clients

Use the chapter from Claude.

The site is an MCP server. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, lets an AI client such as Claude Desktop, claude.ai, or Claude Code list the actions a site offers and call them for you. You sign in with your usual site account. There are no API keys.

The server URL.

https://omahaai.engineer/api/mcp/member

See upcoming meetups and who speaks. RSVP, bring a guest, choose in person or online, edit your dietary needs, cancel. Update your profile and directory listing. Propose a talk and give feedback after a meetup.

Claude Desktop or claude.ai.

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  2. Give it a name, for example AI Engineer Omaha, and paste the server URL.
  3. Click Connect. The site opens: sign in, then click Allow on the consent page.

Claude Code. Run this in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http aie-member https://omahaai.engineer/api/mcp/member

Then start claude, type /mcp, pick aie-member, and sign in. The site opens in your browser for the sign-in and the consent.

Other clients. Any MCP client that supports remote servers over HTTP with OAuth sign-in can connect. Give it the server URL.

Things to try.

  • “What is the next AI Engineer Omaha meetup, and who is speaking?”
  • “RSVP me for it, and note that I am vegetarian.”
  • “I cannot make it in person. Switch me to online.”

New actions. When the site adds an action, your client may keep the old list until it reconnects. If an action is missing, reconnect the connector or restart the client.

Access and security. A client acts as you. A sign-in lasts one hour and renews while the client is in use. To cut a client off, open your profile and click Disconnect under Connected apps. The privacy page says what the site stores. Questions to brad.risse@devobsessed.com.
